Reporting an error

If you believe an article contains a factual error, an outdated statement or a broken source link, please tell us through the contact page and choose “Suggest a correction.” Include the article title or address, the statement you believe is wrong, and, if you can, a link to a source. We cannot give legal advice, but we do want to get the facts right.

What happens next

An editor checks the report against primary sources. If the article is wrong or misleading, we correct it as soon as we can.

Types of change

• Minor edit. Typos, formatting and link fixes. The updated date does not change.
• Update. The law, a procedure or a source has changed. The updated date changes and the article is revised.
• Correction. We published something inaccurate. We fix it, change the updated date and record the correction in the log below.

Withdrawing an article

If an article cannot be made accurate, or no longer serves readers, we may remove it. Removals that affect published guidance are recorded in the log.
