Editorial Policy

Purpose and independence

Verdicairn exists to help readers understand legal rights, claims processes and consumer disputes. We are an independent publication. Editorial decisions are made on the basis of what readers need to know, not on the interests of any company, insurer, law firm or advertiser.

Writing standards

• Plain language. We define legal and insurance terms the first time they appear.
• Neutral tone. We explain options and trade-offs. We do not use fear, urgency or pressure.
• No outcome promises. We never guarantee results, predict what a claim is worth, or suggest that a particular outcome is likely.
• Clear limits. Every article says it is general information, not legal advice, and explains when to consult a licensed attorney.

How an article is produced

1. Research against primary sources such as statutes, regulations, court resources and government agency publications.
2. Drafting in plain language, with the reader’s question stated at the top.
3. Editing for accuracy, neutrality and clarity.
4. Source check: factual statements are traced to the sources listed at the end of the article.
5. Publication with a visible published date, and an updated date whenever the substance changes.

We may use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting tools, during research and drafting. A human editor is responsible for the final text of everything we publish.

Jurisdiction

Laws differ by state and by agency. Where an article describes general concepts, it says so and points to where state rules differ. Where an article covers a specific jurisdiction, the jurisdiction is shown in the article details.

Dates and updates

Every article shows a published date and an updated date. The updated date changes when we make a substantive change, not for typo fixes. Where an article shows a “last reviewed” date, it means an editor re-read the article against its sources on that date. A date is not a guarantee that the article is current or applies to your situation.

Commercial relationships

Verdicairn does not currently display advertising or sponsored content. If that changes, we will say so on this page and clearly label any paid or sponsored material, and commercial relationships will not influence what we write or how we describe legal options.

Images and photography

Photographs on Verdicairn are licensed stock photography used to illustrate a topic. The people, places and vehicles shown are not Verdicairn staff, clients, claimants, judges or parties to any matter unless a caption says so. Each article credits its photographers and links to the source page, and every photograph is recorded, with its source and license, in an internal media register. We do not publish AI-generated images presented as photographs. Where a caption names a location, it is for illustration only and does not mean that place’s law applies to you.

What we do not do

• We do not invent experts, credentials, case results, testimonials or awards.
• We do not name a reviewer or expert unless they have actually reviewed the content and agreed to be named.
• We do not provide legal advice or case evaluations.
